What is Flink's vacation policy?

Vacation 101

  • Notice Period: Plan ahead with at least 11 days' notice; otherwise, requests won't be approved.

  • Emergencies: Valid reasons? Reach out to your hub manager directly for emergency requests.

  • Time Off Days: Sundays and public holidays are off the deduction list.

  • Vacation Days Math: Since 01.04.2023, just 5 days unlock a week of vacation magic.

  • Use It or Lose It: Use accrued vacations by December 31st or bid them farewell.

  • Rolling Over: Business needs in the way? Up to 5 unused days can roll over until March next year.

  • Annual Vacation: Hired before 31.03.2023? You're in for a treat with 24 annual vacations (available from the start of each year).

  • Start Date Magic: Your first-year holiday count syncs with your start date. Example: If you start on March 1st, your first 2 days kick in on April 1st.

  • Probation and Credits: The complete vacation allowance after probation is based on a pro-rata approach using the remaining days in the year rather than a fixed amount.

  • Probation Example: Picture this – Probation ends on September 1st?(If you start in March) Celebrate with your accrued vacation days from March to December (20 days in total).

  • Following Year: If probation wraps up the next year, you hit the jackpot with the full annual 24-day allowance.

  • Probation Example: Imagine this – Probation concludes on October 1st?(If you start in April) Celebrate with your accrued vacation days from April to December (15 days in total).

  • Following Year: If probation wraps up the next year, you earn the annual 20-day allowance.

Vacation allowance

  • Probation Accruals: In your first six months, you accrue 1/12th of your yearly vacation balance every month, starting a month after your hire date.

  • First Month Rule: No vacation entitlement in the first month; the magic begins after that.

  • Post-Probation Freedom: After probation, request your full annual vacation (days accrued from your hire date to year-end).

  • Maximum Absences Alert: If the hub's max absences are hit, Flink can reject your vacation request, even with 11 days' notice and enough days accrued.

  • Probation Exit: If you leave during probation, you get your accrued vacation up to your last day – no extra days.

  • Post-Probation Exit: If leaving post-probation:

    • Before June 30th: Calculated based on the total annual entitlement, prorated for months worked, minus taken days.

    • After June 30th: Typically calculated based on the full annual entitlement, minus taken days.
