EU Citizens
If you are an EU citizen, we need your ID or passport for identification purposes.
Non-EU Citizens
If you are not an EU citizen, we will need your most recent resident permit card (Aufenthaltstitel). In case your work permit has additional conditions and says "siehe Zusatztblatt", do not forget to submit the Green paper (Zusatztblatt). Please be sure to send both sides in full to see the expiry date and working conditions.
TIP: It is highly recommended to use an office scanner to provide good-quality documents. Each document should be scanned separately. It is important to scan both sides of your documents without a background, shades, and objects such as your fingers and pens.
Thereâs a difference between a residence permit and a work permit. There are residence permits with restricted work permits and those where work is allowed to the full length.
Visas / Residence permits with restricted work permit (frequent cases)
Student Visa / Residence permits
Student permit holders are allowed to work 120 full or 240 half days per calendar year. Be aware, all days worked longer than 4 hours are counted as a full day. This applies regardless of the type of contract you have and the hours of work (full-time or part-time) specified in your contract.
Please submit additional documentation:
your current university enrollment certificate (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung)
The numer of worked days this year with the previous employer.
Note: The current semester enrollment certificate must have a clear date until when it is valid and if the work conditions include university. It must match the provided enrolment certificate. In case the university changes, it must be reported to the local immigration office.

This visa is given to nationals of certain countries with which Germany has bilateral agreements. The visa is given to you for a year, but the work permit is restricted to 6 months at one employer or a maximum of 6 months within a year.
Please submit additional documentation:

Please consult an immigration lawyer or search for information on the website of your local Immigration Office (AuslĂ€nderbehörde/ AuslĂ€nderamt).
Please note that the expiry date of your visa or residence permit does not automatically mean you are allowed to work till that date.
If the Immigration office granted you a new residence permit at the appointment but the card is on its way, please submit us the visa extension confirmation certificate from the Immigration office that may look like below. Please note that the format may vary from immigration office in different German federal lands.
