Where can I check my notice period?

Hey there! Ready to dive into notice periods? Let's break it down:

What's a Notice Period?

  • It's the heads-up time your employer has before you officially bid farewell. It kicks off when you submit your resignation letter, the employer receives it and wraps up on your last day at work.

How It's Calculated

  • Within Probation:

    • If you're still in your probation period, your notice period is 2 weeks from the day after you hand in your resignation.

      • Example: Resign on January 1st, your last day is January 15th.

  • After Probation:

    • Once you've aced your probation, your notice period is 1/2 month to the end of the month or 4 weeks until the 15th of the month or until the end of the month from the day after you resign.

      • Examples:

        • Resign on January 1st, last day is February 28th.

        • Resign on January 3rd, last day is March 31st (since it's 2 months from January 3rd to March 3rd, and March 31st is the month's end).

Contract Type Matters

  • Depending on your contract, the notice period after probation could be 1 month to the end of the month, 2 months to the end of the month or even 4 weeks until the 15th or end of the month. Check out your contract (section § 6) for the nitty-gritty details.

Where to Find it in Your Contract

  • Your notice period info is neatly tucked away in section § 6, precisely titled "Duration and end of the employment relationship."
