Employee Information on GPS Tracking via the Workforce App

At this point, we would like to provide you with transparent and understandable information about the collection of location data via the Workforce App. We understand that the topic of GPS tracking can raise questions. Protecting your privacy rights is very important to us, which is why we limit data collection to the operational minimum and adhere to strict deletion deadlines.

1. Why is the "Always Allow" setting for location sharing necessary?

For complete and proper documentation of delivery routes, continuous location tracking during a delivery is essential. The "While Using the App" permission would interrupt tracking as soon as the app is no longer actively open in the foreground (e.g., when using a navigation app or when the screen is locked).

The "Always Allow" setting is the technical requirement to ensure the app can continue to track the route in the background.

Important:

The actual collection of your location data is strictly limited to the period of your active shift. No location tracking occurs outside of your working hours.

2. When exactly is location data collected?

The collection of location data is strictly tied to your operational tasks and occurs as follows:

🚴 During an active delivery:

  • Purpose: To seamlessly document the delivery, ensure successful drop-off, and handle customer inquiries.

  • Frequency: Every 10 seconds (from order acceptance to delivery).

📍 On the way back to the hub:

  • Purpose: For tour completion, route optimization, and dispatching for potential follow-up orders.

  • Frequency: Every 20 seconds (after the last delivery until arrival at the hub).

🏢 In the hub / Outside of orders:

  • General Rule: As a rule, no location tracking occurs when there is no active order in your system.

  • Exception at the start of a shift: To confirm your presence, your location is captured once if you open the app up to 20 minutes before your official shift starts.

3. What is the data used for and how long is it stored?

The storage of data is for specific, defined purposes.

Purposes of data storage:

  • Live tracking for customers: To allow customers to track their delivery in real-time.

  • Correction of timestamps: To review and correct incorrect timestamps (e.g., for delivery times) in our data management system if necessary.

Storage locations and deletion periods:

  • Workforce App: Data is automatically and completely deleted after 24 hours.

  • Data Warehouse: For analysis and data correction purposes, data is kept for one month and then completely deleted.
