Before the onboarding process starts: Your Hub Manager will give you a printed and signed copy of the “Information sheet on the employment contract” of the new coworker’s contract, please make sure to give it to the new joiner before they start their new shift.
General tips and tricks for the onboarding process
Give them a warm welcome;
Be friendly and kind and introduce yourself and the other coworkers;
Be empathetic towards them and remember the hardships of a first day;
Share your wisdom and answer all their questions patiently;
Put them at ease and relieve any tension. Talk with them informally and bring him in the mindset that mistakes are learning opportunities;
Explain to them the onboarding process;
Understand what they already know about their tasks and identify where to put the focus on;
Spark their interest by underlining the importance of their tasks and their contribution;
Make sure they understand that questions are welcome and can be asked any time;
Give them a brief overview over the number of steps for each task;
Show the process at its normal speed so that they can see the rhythm and how one step leads to the next one;
Clearly demonstrate each step of the task. Explain precisely what you are doing and why by going through the key points and common errors;
Make sure to leave out unnecessary details;
Give them feedback and encouragement;
Correct any errors and reinstruct when necessary; always ask if there are any open questions;
Continue until you are sure they have learned all the steps and that they can operate safely and correctly.
