Promotions

Like any other grocery retailer, we offer a wide selection of products at varying prices. When it is determined that we will promote a product by offering it at a discount or offering it with a gift (like a free football jersey for instance), a couple of things that fall outside of normal daily operations may need to happen.

Instructions

  1. Check Slack for notifications about promotions. They could come over any of the several channels we have, including (but not limited to):

    1. #de_ops_leads;

    2. #de_ops;

    3. your local marketing channel.

  2. Read the notification carefully and prepare the Hub and/ or team according to the conditions in the message.

  3. If some information is required from you (i.e. filling out something in a google sheet), please supply this information punctually.

  4. If you receive a massive quantity of a product without being notified:

    1. Firstly, check the user app to see if the item is listed under Promotions.

    2. If the product is not yet listed, reach out to a Demand Planner on the Replenishment Team or a Buyer on the Commercial Team and ask if the product is booked for an upcoming promotion.

    3. If there is no upcoming promotion, report it on our Hub Alert app.

FAQ

  • Here you can read more about the Hub Alert app.

Why is this process important?

  • If we are offering a discount on a high-volume product, it may be the case that a large quantity of it arrives at the Hub before the promotion starts. Storing them may require some creativity, especially in a smaller Hub.

    • Example: We are offering a discount on Augustiner Lagerbier Hell, and you receive a full pallet of Augustiner in addition to a normal delivery of all other drinks, instead of the normal 6 cases.

  • If we are promoting a product with a special gift, like a free football jersey for instance, and the customer does not receive the gift, they will be quite disappointed. This type of mistake would be recorded in the Issue Rate and could negatively impact the NPS.
