Important:
This guide is only for hubs that use scooters.
This guide covers all of the topics related to scooters that Hub Managers (HM), Shift Leads (SL) and Ops Associates Plus (OA+) need to know for the scooters' daily usage.
It's important that everyone in the hub is aware of all of the processes in this guide, so they can handle the scooters safely and take care of them correctly. By doing so, we can reduce the number of accidents, traffic violations, and damages to the scooters. Riders have access to a copy of this guide in the Rider Care Help Center here.
The guide covers the following topics:
How to assign yourself a scooter
Riders delivering in scooters are subject to the Mandatory Vehicle Assignment (MVA), meaning that they need to assign themselves a scooter in order to start receiving trips in the WF app. To do so, they must follow the process here.
Requirements for scooter shifts
Scooter Riders must always have:
A valid driver’s license. Must be with the Riders at all times - no exceptions.
Mandatory: scooter helmet, jacket and gloves.
Vehicle documents. You can find them underneath your scooter’s seat. See the dropdown below for more information.
Important:
If they can't locate the documents for the scooter, it is prohibited to use it until the documents are found.
Scooter documents
In the compartment underneath your scooter’s seat, the Rider must always have these 3 documents:
A copy of the operating permit of the vehicle.
An accident fill form.
An insurance certificate.
Note:
If the Rider needs to take them out of the compartment, they must put them back as soon as possible.
Important:
If the scooter's documents are lost, the Rider must inform the Shift Lead of the situation.
It is prohibited to use the scooter until new documents are provided.
Manual for using scooters (recommended for HMs)

Safety guidelines for charging batteries
Do's | Don'ts |
Charge the batteries regularly to maximize their lifetime | Don’t stack the batteries in the charging cabinets |
Preferably charge the batteries inside the scooter. If not possible, charge them in the designated area in the hub | Avoid contact between the charger and liquids, dirt or debris |
Before charging the batteries, inspect them for any damage
|
|
Store all batteries inside the cabinet during the night |
|
Ensure the charging area is dry and cables aren't a trip hazard |

Charging process
Access the batteries in the scooter:
Place the scooter in a ventilated space.
Open the saddle with the key.
Lift the storage compartment to access the batteries.
Take the batteries out of the scooter:
On the side of the battery compartment where the saddle locks, turn the switch to the OFF position.
Open the safety locks from the cables.
Disconnect the cables.
Remove the batteries one by one.
Charge the batteries:
Inspect the batteries for any damage. If there's none, take the batteries and place them inside the battery cabinet.
Take the charger and connect it to the batteries and then the wall plug.
Important:
If the batteries are damaged, HM/SLs must submit a ticket here and place the batteries in the designated space for damaged batteries.
Reconnect the batteries:
Once the batteries are fully charged, place them in the scooter's battery compartment one by one.
Reconnect the cables to the batteries.
Close the cables' safety locks.
Turn the switch to the ON position.
Important:
Batteries must only be charged inside the battery cabinet. Charge batteries according to the layout and maximum electrical capacity of the cabinet.
The damage caused by not following this procedure will not be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Please be careful!
Guidelines for ending shifts and storing scooters
Ending shifts
When ending their shifts, the Riders must:
Take the batteries out of the scooter and store them in the battery cabinet.
Hand over the scooter's keys to the SL/HM. Never hand them over to anyone else and never leave the keys in the ignition.
Store the riding equipment in its appropriate place. Never leave any rider equipment on the scooter.
Storing scooters
Store the scooters neatly next to each other.
After operating hours, don’t leave scooters outside of the Hub under any circumstances.
Don't block the entrance/exit of the hub with scooters.
Requirements to handle keys
The scooter keys must never be left unattended. They must stay with the Rider at all times during their shift and deliveries.
Keep the scooter keys in a locked space/drawer accessible only by the HM/SLs.
Requirements for the key handover
Before receiving the keys, the Rider must have the following documents:
Valid driver’s license
Operating permit
Accident fill form
Insurance certificate
When they finish their shift, they must return the keys directly to their SL/HM. They must never hand them over to a colleague.
If any of these documents is missing, the scooter's use is prohibited until the documents are found. Read more about the documents under Scooter documents.
Road safety guidelines
General guidelines
Riders are entirely responsible for following the traffic rules when driving scooters.
If the navigation app recommends a route that may result in a violation of a traffic rule, the Rider must always follow traffic rules rules and not the app.
All fines resulting from traffic violations are not covered by Flink, and the total value will be taken from the Rider’s weekly salary until it's 100% paid off.
The scooter's license plate must always be visible. If it's obstructed, it can be subject to a fine, which will be the Rider’s entire responsibility to pay.
The Riders must only ride the scooters in allowed zones (such as roads).
Parking etiquette
Always park the scooters in a convenient and appropriate location that is easily accessible and doesn't block the sidewalk or the street.
If a Rider receives a parking fine, they are entirely responsible for its payment.
Traffic fines and accidents
If the police stops and gives the Rider a fine for traffic or parking rules violations, they are solely responsible to handle and pay them.
The Rider must always be mindful of traffic rules when using a scooter (or any other vehicle) from Flink.
If the Rider has an accident while riding a scooter, they must follow the accident process.
How to report scooter damages
If Riders notice any damages to the scooter, they must immediately report them. If those damages jeopardize their safety while using the scooter, they must stop using it and store it in the Hub.
They must then go to their Hub Manager/Shift Lead and provide them with:
The vehicle ID.
A brief description of the problem they encountered.
After, the Hub Managers/Shift Leads must report them in the Fleet tool. Read more about it here under Fleet (Fleet tool) > Damages.
FAQ
If a Rider gets fined for parking or traffic rules violations while using a scooter, will the fine be covered by Flink?
No. All fines due to incorrect parking or traffic rules violations will be deducted from the Rider's weekly salary until it's 100% paid off.
Each Rider is responsible for following the traffic rules, regardless of what the routing app recommends, with no exceptions.
The Rider got into an accident with a Flink scooter. Will Flink cover their medical expenses or costs for damages to their personal belongings?
The Rider’s work insurance will cover medical treatment and other costs for health measures incurred as a result of the accident at work. Other personal damage is not covered. Read more about it here.
The Rider lost the vehicle documents, what should they do?
They must communicate this immediately to their Hub Manager/Shift Lead. If the loss is the responsibility of the Rider, disciplinary action may be taken.
There’s something broken on the scooter, what should I do?
See the dropdown How to report scooter damages.
Can the Rider drive the scooter on the cycling lane?
No. It's forbidden in most cases to ride scooters on cycle lanes. If the Rider is fined for this, the fine is entirely their responsibility to handle and pay.
Since the Rider's colleague is using their scooter for their shift, can they just hand them over the keys?
See the dropdown Requirements for the key handover.
Can scooters use a single battery or do they always need the two batteries to be functional?
If necessary, a scooter can be used with just one battery. It's important to ensure that scooters always have at least one battery available to function during shifts. To ensure this, use a scooter with only one battery whilst the other recharges. Riders must be aware of the battery levels at all times.
