Rider Recruitment: Hiring Targets

Icon

In order to guarantee we have enough riders in every hub, Hiring Targets are defined and shared with Hub Teams so both Recruiters and Hub Managers are aligned on how many new riders we need to bring to the operation every week.

General overview

The targets are based on three different models:

  • Young Riders Leads vs conversion

    • Using age analysis, we see how many riders between 16 and 20 enter the funnel, and with the 20% conversion, how many we end up hiring.

  • Capacity model (see image below)

    • To define those targets, we consider different business metrics, such as expected order volume, UTR, active fleet and churn.

Capacity Model Diagram
  • Availability given vs scheduled

    • In this model, we make the comparison between the stated availability of riders and the final scheduled hours. Here, we see a rate of 150% as critical for a hub, between 151% and 200% as undersupplied, and +200% as healthy supply.

    • Using active riders, churn and the delta to 200%, we calculate how many riders are needed for a healthy supply in the hub.

    • To ensure that we have enough supply in the hubs or we meet the young rider strategy, the model with the highest number is chosen. Then this number is still corrected for an activation level of 80%, so that we can be sure that the right number of riders get on the bike.

Process

  1. Each end-of-month targets for the upcoming month on hub level is defined and shared with City Managers.

  2. City Managers have then one week to provide feedback and agree with the Growth Team's final targets.

  3. Targets are updated in this file and shared with other team members.

  4. During the month, the targets can be exceptionally adjusted by the Growth Team or via request from the City Manager to the Growth Team, in case of:

    1. Significant lower or higher order growth than predicted;

    2. Significant lower or higher rider churn;

    3. Unforeseen scenarios (i.e. Hub Closure).
