Fridges and Freezers: maintaining and operating them

Refrigeration is a fundamental part in any Hub and very important to understand in order to properly cool all products. The technology and operation of refrigerators, freezers, meat chest freezers and overhead cabinets will be explained here in more detail.

Fridge and freezer model overview

Standard setting for the refrigerators

  • Temperature in C ("Set"): defines the basic setting and optimum temperature.

  • Range in C: is the range in which temperature can fluctuate. If the temperature is below/above this range, check the basic setting.

Adjusting Temperature Settings

Standard setting for the refrigerators

  • Temperature in C (Set): defines the basic setting and optimum temperature.

  • Range in C: it's the range in which temperature can fluctuate. If the temperature is below/above this range, check the basic setting.

  • To set your refrigerators, there is the display at the bottom part of the fridge. Status: NEW = new update of temperatures, to-do in the Hub.

Adjusting temperatures of overhead freezers and fridges:

Adjusting temperatures of fridges:

Model GGG

Setting up the basic "Set" temperature

  1. On the bottom left, click on Set until the degrees flash in the display.

  2. Find the right temperature by clicking on the upwards or downwards arrows on the right.

  3. Click on Set.

Important:

The base temperature for all fresh/meat fridges is 2 degrees celsius.

Setting up the "Tolerance" temperature

  1. On the bottom right, click on Set and Aux at the same time until the display shows HY.

    TITLE

Some fridges will show L2 on the display. Once it does, stop pressing the buttons. The display will automatically show HY.

  2. Click on Set.

  3. Find the right temperature by clicking on the upwards or downwards arrows on the right.

  4. Click on Set.

Important:

The general tolerance temperature for all fresh/meat fridges is 1 degree celcius.

Drinks fridges

Follow the processes above to set the Set (7 degrees celsius) and Tolerance (3 degrees celsius) temperatures.

This is important to save energy.

Model Tefcold

  1. The temperature range of the Tefcold refrigerators is actually relatively easy to set. You hold down the "set" button and the "drop down" button (bottom left and right, respectively) until it starts flashing at some point.

  2. Then "HY" appears. When this happens, press "set" again and you can adjust the temperature up and down on the arrows on the right, depending on where you want it to be at. For the refrigerator it has to stay at three.

  3. Then press "set" again and that's it. At some point, the display will return back to normal and the temperature will be set.

Model Atosa

  1. The same as Model GGG.

Meat refrigerator

  1. To set the meat refrigerator: press on "set" twice.

  2. Set the temperature on the arrows on the left, and then press "set" again.

  3. Wait until “set” disappears from the screen or press once on the button above “set”.

Setting the tolerance range

      1. Press the "set"-button until the display shows "dif”;

      2. Press the "set" key again;

      3. Then set the displayed value to 2.0 with the arrow keys;

      4. Confirm the value 2.0 by pressing the "set" key.

Freezer Shelf Layout

Please see below how to arrange the shelf layout for the top loaders and overhead fridges/ freezers.

Meat Fridge Combo

  1. The lower shelf number is always the top loader (bottom part), the higher number is the overhead:

    1. Top Loader (bottom part): A-F;

    2. Overhead (top part): A-L (25cm in between the shelf levels).

Possible problems and their solution

Error code is displayed

Important:

The units may become hot due to the outside temperature, overfilling or other influences. The overheating of the motors will cause error codes.

    1. The first step is to disconnect the device from the power supply.

    2. Now wait 10 minutes and connect it again.

    3. If the error code still persists, please provide your Hub Manager with the info about the error so they can report it on MCFT portal.

Freezer Maintenance Instructions

Untitled__4_.png

Please follow the defrosting procedure below in case there is a large amount of ice in the freezer:

Defrosting process

Despite the automatic defrosting function, the freezers must be defrosted manually on a regular basis (approx. 2 times a year), at the latest when a layer of ice has formed on the edge that is more than 1cm large.

Process

  1. The optimal period is overnight. This process should not be done during running business.

  2. Divide the available goods with other devices.

  3. Set the defrosting of the units with the MR or ER controllers as follows:

                      MR ER

image__14_.png

4. Then remove the lids and set them aside.

5. Remove the bottom grids. Side grids only at your own discretion.

6. Leave the unit to defrost overnight.

7. The next morning, completely wipe out, dry and clean the interior.

Important:

If the chest is already heavily iced, it will have a corresponding amount of water on the bottom after defrosting.

8. Once the chest is clean, reinstall the grids and install the lids.

9. Now switch on the cooling function again:

                       MR ER

image__15_.png

10. Once the temperature is reached again (can take up to 3h) the products can be moved back to their original position.

Instructions for cleaning the unit

image__16_.png
image__17_.png
image__18_.png

    1. External surfaces should be cleaned at regular (meaning every 2 weeks) intervals, or at the latest when they become dirty, using the appropriate cleaning agents.

    2. The running rails of the lids readily absorb dirt from the environment and should therefore also be cleaned regularly to ensure that the lid can run easily.

Setting the refrigeration to “frozen” or “meat”

  1. For this purpose, the following instructions can be used in the units.

Important:

This setting is changed only upon instruction to do so. You are not allowed to make these changes by yourself.

Switching off the refrigerator light

  1. In order to be able to make further savings in the energy sector, the cooling units are used without light, provided that the structural conditions on site allow this.

    1. GGG refrigerators have one or sometimes 2 light switches on the right side, which can be switched off.

image__1_.jfif

b. Tefcold / Nordcap has its light switch in the lower part of the unit next to the display. It can be either on the left or on the right.

image__2_.jfif

2. TK - Chests & TK Superstructures each have 2 plugs on the unit. One is for the light and one for the power of the motor. There is no switch here, just unplug the plug for the light from the power.

3. Note: There are a few models that do not correspond to these two described. Here you cannot turn off the light separately.

Walk-in Fridge

All hubs are equipped with a walk-in fridge. Please do not move LL delivery carts inside them as this can damage the floor and can possibly cause injury.

Why is it important?

  • All refrigerators, etc. must always be properly adjusted to guarantee a suitable cooling function of the products.

  • The cold chain of the products can thus be guaranteed and their spoilage is prevented.

  • When the coolers are fully functional, the inbound of the products can be smooth and the products are in the right shelves so that the picking process cannot be disturbed.
