Long Term Sickness Ground Rules Reintegration

Ground rules: How we work together for you to return to your own role

1. Meeting prior to the start of reintegration

Prior to the start of the reintegration process, a meeting will take place between you and your manager. The purpose of this meeting is to provide clarity about what your reintegration will look like in the coming period. You are expected to actively participate in this meeting. We therefore ask that you think about the following topics in advance:

  • Number of hours per week

  • Work pace

  • Physical strain

  • Mental strain

  • Location of the reintegration

During the meeting, your problem analysis or your latest report from the company doctor will also be discussed. This is to ensure that all the tasks and hours you will be performing during your reintegration are in line with the limitations indicated by the company doctor.

2. First day of the reintegration process

On the first day of the reintegration process, an initial meeting will take place. During this meeting, the daily schedule will be discussed, including which tasks you will perform at what times and which tasks you will not perform. The first day is primarily intended to build trust and to help you get used to the workplace again. The first day is not about performance.

Halfway through your first day of reintegration, there will be an evaluation meeting. This is to evaluate how your first day is going and whether some of the tasks you are performing need to be adjusted.

At the end of your first reintegration day, there will be a final meeting. In this meeting, you and your manager will discuss the following:

  • How did it go?

  • What went well?

  • What was difficult?

  • Are there any tasks that need to be adjusted?

You will also discuss expectations for the next reintegration day. You will record the final meeting together with your manager. This meeting will be added to your reintegration file.

3. Evaluation during the reintegration process

During your reintegration process, weekly evaluations will also take place with your manager. During these evaluations, you and your manager will discuss how the week went, what went well, what did not go so well, and which agreements need to be adjusted, for example. In addition, the following week will also be discussed in relation to your reintegration process. You will work with your manager to determine on which days you will be reintegrating next week, how many hours you will be working, and which tasks you will be performing. You will also determine when the next evaluation session will take place. All agreements made will be added to your reintegration file.

These evaluations will continue until the end of your reintegration process. All evaluations will be recorded and added to your reintegration file.

4. Concluding the reintegration process

A final meeting will be held to conclude the reintegration process. The purpose of this meeting is to:

  • Formally conclude the reintegration process

  • Evaluate what went well and what could have been improved

  • Make agreements about sustainable working practices

  • Record any points for attention

During the meeting, you and your manager will look back on the entire reintegration process. You will discuss what went well, what you liked, and whether there are any areas for improvement. Your manager will also discuss how the reintegration process will be concluded and what steps you now need to take to start working shifts again (adjusting your availability, accepting shifts, etc.).

You and your manager will also record that the reintegration process has been completed, the date on which you will resume your full role, and any permanent agreements that have been made. This will be added to your reintegration file, and your reintegration process will then be formally concluded.

5. Obligations during your reintegration process

There are a number of obligations you must fulfill during your reintegration process. These obligations are laid down by law. You must comply with these obligations. Failure to comply with these obligations may have consequences for your continued payment of wages during illness. This may mean that your wages are temporarily suspended until you comply with the obligations again, or that your wages are stopped completely until you comply with the obligations again. We have outlined these obligations for you below.

Obligations during illness:

  • Employees must report when they are better.

  • Employees must report sick in accordance with the employer's absence protocol.

  • Employees must attend appointments with the company doctor.

  • Employees must provide information to the company doctor.

  • Employees must reintegrate.

  • Employees must comply with the binding advice of the company doctor.

  • Employees must actively cooperate in the reintegration process.

  • Employees must accept suitable work during reintegration.

  • Employees must cooperate with reasonable measures relating to reintegration.
