What is our vacation leave policy?

You can schedule your vacation time 21 days in advance. This will then be approved as soon as possible, at least within 10 working days of submission.

Q: How do I build up my holiday hours?

A: For each hour worked, you accrue 0,0962 (or 9,62%) vacation hours.
The formula to calculate your vacation hours is (X) amount of worked hours x 0,092 = (x) vacation hours.

For example: 32 worked hours x 0.0962 = 3 vacation hours

Q: What is the difference between holiday allowance and vacation hours?

A: Holiday allowance (in Dutch: Vakantiegeld) is 8% of your gross wage that is added to your hourly wage and is paid out weekly with your salary. On your payslip, this is under the name: “Holiday Allowance”.

Vacation hours are paid vacation days. When working full-time, you are entitled to a minimum of 20 paid vacation days per year. The current CLA (E-commerce) prescribes that you are entitled to receive 25 days of vacation based on a 40-hour contract.

Q: What is the difference between statutory vacation and non-statutory vacation hours?

A: You receive statutory and non-statutory vacation hours. Based on a full-time contract (35 to 40 work hours per week) and under the e-commerce CLA you are entitled to receive 25 vacation days per year.

20 days are statutory vacation days and the remaining 5 vacation days are non-statutory.

You are allowed to ‘sell’ your non-statutory vacation days once per year. A vacation day has the price of the salary for a normal working day at the time the application is made.

How long are my vacation/holiday hours valid?

Understanding the rules surrounding the expiration of holiday hours is crucial for both
employees and employers. Per the legal framework, employees are entitled to both statutory and non-statutory holiday hours.

Please take note of the following expiration guidelines:

Statutory Holiday Hours:
• Statutory holiday hours expire six months after the end of the year in
which they were accrued.
• For instance, holiday hours earned in 2023 will expire on July 1, 2024.

Non-Statutory (Above-Statutory) Holiday Hours:
• Non-statutory holiday hours expire five years after the end of the year in
which they were accrued.

• For instance, non-statutory holiday hours earned in 2023 will expire on July
1, 2029
