Pest Recognition

When it comes to detecting pests, the main thing is that immediate action is taken in the event of a potential rodent/insect infestation and that our partner for pest control (Nobaxx, EcoLab or Schädex - depending on the region) can also take action immediately.

Process

What to do in case of infestation

When traces of an infestation are recognized in the hub, Shift Leads or Hub Managers must open a ticket on Zendesk under “Pest problem”. If you need to escalate it, use the escalation flow in the related Slack channel.

How can I prevent infestations in the Hub?

  • Pay particular attention to signs of pests during incoming goods inspection and the inbound process.

  • Dispose of food, food waste, organic waste properly and as quickly as possible: do not leave it lying around in the lift and do not dispose of it in the toilet.

  • Do not keep doors and windows that are not protected by screens open longer than necessary. If an insect screen is required, please also report this to the Property Management Team. Windows without insect screens must not be opened for ventilation.

  • To prevent pests entering our hubs, please keep the exterior doors always closed. The only exception is during deliveries and pickups – then they can be temporarily open, but need to be closed right after. Please print this door closed sign and hang it on concerning doors.

  • Ensure general cleanliness in the hubs.

  • Check under shelves and in corners daily to make sure they have been thoroughly cleaned.

  • Dropped food and food debris quickly attract pests.

  • Report holes in walls and other damage that may attract pests to Property Management or close them yourself by using steel wool.

  • Mice use their urine as a “navigation system” on where it's attractive to crawl back to. So if not cleaned properly, this also encourages infestation. Please always write a ticket when the cleaning service provider does not show up.

FAQ

We strongly recommend you to hang these posters in the hub to maintain your safety:

Check with your Cluster Leads regarding the reports for pest control. If you have any issues, please write a ticket in Zendesk (Category "General Service Provider Feedback" > "Pest Control").

Why is it important?

To protect our food and employees, every rodent/insect infestation must be reported immediately to the pest controller so that the infestation can be eliminated immediately. This is especially important as a pest infestation can contaminate food and also lead to the immediate closure of a Hub.
