Two new Leadership Trainings: Hub Manager Role & GDPR
GDPR Training for Leaders (OA+/SL/HM)
As Hub Leaders, you handle a lot of sensitive information every day, especially employee (performance) data. To help you navigate this safely, we are excited to share a new training lesson for hub leadership.
Keeping employee data secure isn't just about ticking off a compliance box; it's about respecting our team's privacy and maintaining their trust. This short video is a quick, practical guide to ensure we always handle performance data securely and in full compliance with GDPR.
Who Should Complete the Training?

Here is what you will learn in this short video:
Why GDPR matters: Understand the real-world importance of compliance when dealing with sensitive employee (performance) data.
Spotting the risks: Learn to recognise the dangers and consequences of sharing this information inappropriately.
Everyday best practices: Discover actionable ways to securely manage and share performance data within your hub leadership team.
What NOT to do: Identify prohibited actions and common pitfalls that can easily lead to accidental data breaches or GDPR violations.
As leaders, we protect our team's privacy by starting with us. Please make sure to carve out some time this week to complete the lesson.

The Hub Manager Role (HM)
Being a Hub Manager means you’re the engine room of Flink. One minute you’re diving into KPI data, and the next, you’re dealing with a sudden staff absence or a delivery that showed up way too early. It’s a massive juggling act, and we know that shifting from "putting out fires" to actually leading can be a challenge.
To help you take full control of your week, we are launching a new training module on the Flink Learning portal: The Hub Manager Flow.

What’s the Goal?
This training isn’t about giving you a rigid, boring schedule that doesn't work in the real world. It’s about building a framework that gives you focus, flexibility, and a better work-life balance. We want to help you move from being reactive to being proactive, running your hub by design, not by accident.
What’s Inside?
The 4 Quadrants of Prioritisation: Learn how to identify what needs your immediate attention (like safety issues or staff absences) and how to protect time for high-impact work like team training and KPI analysis.
Leading Through Delegation: You don't have to do it all yourself. Learn how to leverage your Shift Leads and OA+s as extensions of your leadership so you can focus on strategy while they grow their skills.
A Structured Weekly Rhythm: We’ve mapped out a "Weekly Flow" to help you balance daily core tasks with weekly essentials, from Monday’s schedule finalisation to ensuring you are "Weekend Ready" by Friday.
"Structure is the foundation of predictable success; it ensures the hub operates by design, not by accident."

🥑 Freshness Campaign
Fruit/Veg of the Week: Avocados (Again!)
Avocados continue to be one of our biggest sources of customer complaints and perishable waste. Most issues come down to small details at inbound, picking, and checks, so let's make sure we're all on the same page this week.
Storage Rules
Keep avocados in their original tray and avoid stacking heavier items on top, as bruising leads directly to perished stock.
Rotate stock daily using FIFO (First In, First Out), oldest stock to the front.
Keep avocados away from bananas and apples in storage, as these release ethylene and accelerate ripening.
How to Quality Check Like a Pro
Status | What to Look For | Action | Image |
✅ Top Quality |
- Under-ripe avocados are okay! But make sure they sit for 1-2 days before selling. DON'T outbound
- Firm not too soft, smooth, slightly wrinkled.
| Sell it! | |
⚠️ "Rescue" Level |
- Little spots as in the picture, you can still sell via Rescue Bags.
| Outbound via Rescue Bag. |
|
❌ Outbound Perished |
- Outbound perished: dented, bruises, rot, too soft
| Outbound via Perished |
|
The OAs guide
There are three key moments where quality control makes the biggest difference:
During Inbound/Check:
Carefully check the quality of each tray as it arrives. Catching poor-quality stock at this stage prevents issues further down the line. Flag any tray that looks substandard to your Shift Lead.
During Picking:
Always add avocados to a Flink Fruit Bag to prevent damage from heavier items in the order.
During Checks
Perform a quick "squish test" on every avocado. If it feels too soft, do not send it to a customer; pull it for Rescue or Perished, as appropriate.

Thanks for keeping standards high, every check counts.
🥑 🍆 🍋 🍊 Fruit & Veg Leaflet This Week
This week’s F&V newsletter focuses on significant quality risks for avocados and Spanish aubergines, alongside a tightening lemon market and the conclusion of the Spanish mandarin season. See more here Week 20.
Outbound Hub Compliance
Last week’s overall compliance for outbounds is lower than usual. Please always insert the BBD when outbounding a product. For F&V products, please insert the production code (normally begins with L:). Please always include this; otherwise, suppliers will reject the claims.
🙋♀️ Flink’s Best Price Campaign: You’re part of the message.
=
We now offer 400+ favourites at the lowest prices on the market, guaranteed. Many customers don't know yet, and that's where you come in. When you hand over an order, you have a moment to change that. A few friendly words can make a real difference.
Here's what customers see in the app, so you know what's behind the campaign:
The Three Things to Know
01 |
400+ prices, lowest online
Not a sale, these are the new regular prices.
|
02 |
Best price on the market
We now match or beat other online supermarkets on key items.
|
03 |
Found it cheaper? We refund you.
Price match guarantee, no questions asked.
|
How You Can Contribute
1. Riders spread the word
We'd love for our riders to inform customers about the new prices wherever possible. Here's the message they'll be briefed on tomorrow:
What to say at the door
"By the way, we now have 400+ products with our lowest price guarantee, the cheapest on the online market. If you find something cheaper elsewhere online, we'll match it and refund the difference. You'll spot them in the app by the blue arrow label."
Keep it light and friendly, you're sharing good news, not selling. One sentence is enough if the customer seems in a hurry.
|
If they ask questions
Q: Is this just a temporary promotion?
A: No, these are the new prices. Flink has permanently changed pricing on 400+ products.
Q: Which products are cheaper?
A: The most popular everyday items, the things people order most. Customers can see the full list in the Flink app, marked with the Best Price arrow.
Q: How does the price guarantee work?
A: If a customer finds the same product cheaper at another online store, Flink refunds the difference. Full details are in the app.
Q: Isn't Flink still more expensive than supermarkets?
A: Our prices are now the lowest compared to other online supermarkets on hundreds of items, plus delivery straight to the door. It's a great deal overall.
A few tips
Mention it naturally, right after handing over the bag.
Smile, you're sharing genuinely good news.
Keep it short. One or two sentences is perfect.
If they're in a rush, just say "prices have dropped, check it out" and move on.
2. In the hubs
You'll soon receive special flyers to add to customer orders, along with posters to display in the hub so the whole team can see the campaign. Stay tuned.

Added data from previous days: With the results of previous days included, it will become easier to spot trends.
Hourly Deep-dives: We’ve added hourly breakdowns of main KPIs to help you pinpoint exactly when and where bottlenecks occur during the day.
If you have any questions on this new send-out, just ask your Hub Manager.
Ticket Processing Update
Shelf changes are implemented only once per week. Typically, we review incoming tickets on Monday and Tuesday. Therefore, if you submit a ticket on Wednesday and do not see an update by Friday, please note that it is not due to an oversight. The ticket is simply queued for the next processing cycle, as shelf changes and facings adjustments can only be executed once a week. Exceptions are made only in cases of critical or urgent issues.
Shelf changes
The shelf changes for this week have been uploaded. Big round & there should be an extra hour available for it.The changes are the first step in making F23 (internal shelf ID) exclusive for fruits & vegetables, & converting F08 to the Fridge Main category to allow for heavy/tall fridge products to be placed at the start of the picking route.
Important: For 3.0 hubs - the rack F08 now needs to be set at 2°C (was 7°C before) to allow it to store Fridge Main category products. Please make sure this is done.
