The picking process involves preparing customer orders using various tools, with the Picking Flow in the HubOne app being the most crucial.
This process is important, so Hub Managers, Shift Leads and Ops Associate Plus can ensure we fulfil orders efficiently and accurately, while delivering the correct items promptly to our customers.
Below, you will find the 5 main stages of the process of picking and all the details necessary to be successful at picking.

Instructions
Receiving an order:
Customer orders are sent to your Zebra device via the HubOne app.
When an order arrives, your Zebra will ring and display a notification.
In the Picking Start Screen, you will see the current order state.
Pending: Order is Ready to Pick - if it has never been picked
In Progress: Order has been started but not finished (could be that picking was abandoned or that it is currently being picked by someone else)
Completed: Picking has been started and completed
4. Tap Start picking to accept the order and go to the picking flow.
Before you start picking:
Estimate bag requirements: check the number of products and order weight.
Select appropriate bags: if your hub works with multiple partners, ensure you choose the correct bags depending on the partner.
Prepare your cart: attach your Zebra securely to the picking cart.
Picking products:
Locate the shelf and product: go to the shelf by following the numbers on the floor. Find the product by looking at the following features, in this order:
Shelf number and letter (for example, 050 K).
Product's name and image.
Scan the product: hold the product’s EAN barcode in front of the Zebra scanner. If correct, the item is marked as picked in the app; place it in your bag.
Pick multiple units: tap the product on the screen to adjust the quantity or scan the barcode multiple times.
Correct quantity errors: If needed, adjust the quantity by tapping the "-" button.
Next item: the app will automatically scroll to the next product. Repeat the process.
Handling errors:
Wrong product scanned: you’ll hear an alert and see the error Barcode doesn't match the product. Get the correct product and re-scan it.
If you are 100% sure you have the correct product, but still receive this error, click Report.
Missing or damaged barcode: scan the shelf's barcode and click Report barcode.
Low stock: if stock is low, click Ask for restocking to add it to the Restocking List.
Product's not on the shelf: see FAQ.
Continue picking.
Completing the order:
When all items are picked, click Finish picking.
Proceed with the handover process to the Rider.
Click Next order to begin picking the next order or return to the home screen.
Refill the picking cart with new bags.
If no new orders are ready, remove your Zebra from the cart and continue with other tasks.
Important:
When picking, always apply the First In, First Out (FIFO) principle.
If the customer orders bio products, pay special attention during the picking process, so that you don’t pick any non-bio products instead.
Never insert Flink flyers into external orders (JET, Uber Eats). The HubOne app will display a reminder at the end of the picking process:
FAQ
Recipe SKUs
Customers can add recipes to their orders. The recipe SKUs are priced at €0.00 and are unlimited in the stock.
If you see a recipe SKU in the customer's basket, click it away and continue picking. No other action is required of you.
Product is not on the shelf
Press 'add for restocking' so the product can be marked to be restocked
Swipe right to left on the screen and select Skip to move the item to the end of the list.
Ask a colleague to help locate the product in the surrounding shelves or backstock while you pick. Once they bring the product, proceed as usual.
If this is not possible, continue picking. Re-check skipped products at the end and search the backstock if needed. If found, scan it as usual.
If not found:
Swipe left and then click Item not found.
Confirm the stock availability and choose Refund item.
Can I do a refund swipe without alerting the Shift Lead?
No, always inform the Shift Lead.
What happens if the Zebra stops working while picking?
If your Zebra device stops working mid-picking, you can pick the order up again by scanning the QR code of the order that can be found in the Hub Portal. When you scan an order via QR code, you will start seeing the order summary instead of starting right away, so you can ensure you have the correct order.
